Opening on Friday 13 June from 6pm

Through his project Shipwreck of Dreams, artist Emilio Nasser takes us on a poignant journey blending myth and reality, migration and solidarity. Inspired by a forgotten legend of a wish-granting boat on Lake Geneva, the project weaves this fable with the real-life story of the Autonome Schule in Zurich, a self-managed school founded in 2008 through collaboration between migrants and activists. Through collaborative portraits, photographs, drawings, narratives, archives, and videos, Nasser explores the search for a place to belong, while denouncing European migration policies. The exhibition thus becomes a poetic and political manifesto, revealing a powerful counter-narrative built on resistance, memory, and hope.

Project presented in collaboration with the Photoforum Pasquart, Biel/Bienne, and the Artphilein Foundation, Lugano.

In parallel, the Hong Kong Photobook Dummy Award & Photozine Award exhibition highlights the richness of the photobook as an autonomous artistic form. This award, a true springboard for emerging artists, showcases 15 finalist dummies and the three winners, selected from 127 submissions from over 30 countries by an international jury. The exhibition offers an immersive experience into these unique works, where each photobook presents a singular journey.

Project presented in collaboration with Hildy Law, director of the Hong Kong Photobook Festival.

Visual Archives & Vernacular Photography: Beyond the Family Album – in English with Pablo Lerma.

This workshop explores the work around visual archives and vernacular photography beyond the family album. Through the lens of gender, identity, race, and social background, the goal is to explore how contemporary archival practices in image-making relate to socially engaged topics in photography, especially around themes like family, community, and counternarratives.

The workshop includes an in-class exercise, supported by discussion and visual references, encouraging critical reflection on the role of personal and found images in constructing visual narratives.

Every participant is asked to bring 5 printed vernacular photographs (not digital), connected to them via their family albums or found images (flea markets).
